‘Allo!
Sorry for the late post this week. I’m going to be out this Wednesday while I address some folks in Olympia about the budget and its implications for education and educators. Consequently, I wasn’t quite sure what this week would look like, but here’s the updated schedule.
Monday: We’ll be reviewing how to construct a thesis today. I noticed that roughly 70 percent of the in-class writes from the last two weeks have missed at least one part of what a thesis needs to be, so I figure that some review will be necessary. You can find the in-class assignment here.
Tuesday: As we continue looking at thesis construction we’ll be doing an in-class assignment that is designed to help us address potentially challenging topics while simultaneously crafting an outline to help us write with a greater sense of purpose and organization. You can find the assignment here.
Wednesday: Again, we’ll spend a bit of time working with creating outlines. Also, expect a quiz on Wednesday about the basic elements of a persuasive essay. You’ll be asked to demonstrate that you understand basic organization and can identify various parts of an essay, even out of context.
Thursday: As we finish with persuasive essays we’ll be completing an outline in preparation for Friday’s in-class write. I hope this process will demonstrate what you needs to do in order to create a decent essay for the HSPE.
Friday: Our last persuasive in-class write. I’m still not quite sure what it will be about, but it should be fun. Because writing is fun
Here is the prompt about Seattle sports. Here is the prompt about school lunches. Take your pick!
