Man, too many things going on. These last two weeks have been absolutely crazy. With my wedding only a few weeks away, things have been a little too hectic for me to keep my site perfectly updated. Sorry! I’ll be back on top of things come next week. In better news, I think that I’ve convinced fiancĂ©e to allow me to read a poem rather than do a toast at the rehearsal dinner.
… and no, it isn’t Shakespeare.
Here’s your plan for the week. It is Shakespeare heavy, so I’m pretty stoked.
Monday: We’ll be reviewing Act I, iii from last week, as we never quite wrapped up with the exposition of Act I. Also, we’ll be doing a translation of some of Iago’s lines as we prepare for tomorrow’s exercises in working with his soliloquy. Here’s the worksheet from Act II, i.
Tuesday: We’ll be checking out three of Iago’s passages from Act II, i, in class today. I want to collect them, just to get an idea of how well you’re understanding what is going on. If you were gone, here’s the actual handout.
Homework: Read Act II, ii + iii
Wednesday: We’ll be acting out parts of Act II, ii + iii in class on Wednesday, and doing a short set of questions about scene iii at the end of class.
Thursday: I want to give a bit of a lecture on Elizabethan literature, specifically on the notion of what a climax is and is not in Shakespearean drama. We’ll be using this to discuss some of the thematic elements in the play, some of which will also be introduced on Thursday during the lecture. I’ll post the notes immediately after class.
Here’s the worksheet from Act II, i.
Due: I’ll be checking out your Senior Project Notebooks as well. I need to make sure that you are keeping up with you hours and that you are on track to complete your projects without any major problems.
Weekend Homework: Read through Act III, iii.
